Recycling on a roll….

October 2, 2013 by Auntie Kate of Too Good to be Threw

Carpet or fabric core tubes can be recycled as consignment shop props

Fabric stores have tubes too, and in a variety of sizes.

Next time you pass a carpet store, stop in and ask if you can have the cardboard rolls that carpet comes on. They’re great for an amazing variety of window decorating props.

Turn them into toy soldiers for a Christmas window.

Bundle several together with rope to mimic wharf pilings for a nautical display (this example is pool noodles, but you’ll need the larger carpet rolls to make a window display).

Make them into palm trees for a resort window (insert an open umbrella in the top and cover it with construction-paper palm fronds!)  or Greek temple columns for a prom display.

Turn them into anniversary candles for your promotion.

Or simply paint or cover several different lengths, top with wood, mirror, or plastic, and have a variety of risers for accessories and outfits.

Bonus idea for kidswear shops: to display stuffed animals (or even mittens!) here.

Love this idea. An eye-catching window display is such an important tool for all retailers. We’ve seen some really great window displays with DIY projects and these ideas are awesome.
