What do you think of Margie’s outfit, which cost her less than $20?
Eight [women] visited local consignment and second-hand shops to purchase clothing items for a competitive fashion show held at The Heritage. The winner of the show had the purchase price of her ensemble paid for. The winner, by vote of other residents, was Margie Clark, who spent $19.11 on her outfit.
Fashion shows for groups of potential shoppers can be very worthwhile in getting your business noticed in your community. Trouble is,
they’re a lot of trouble
and often just not worth the work, looking at the business generated.
But how about if a group of women did it on their own for their community, club, neighborhood? What could you do to suggest the idea? What would you be willing to do, as far as discounts, door prizes, and so on?
Is this an idea that you might tailor to your consignment, resale or thrift shop?
Maybe this idea could work for a corporate staff event, showing suitable dress-code attire? As a social event for mothers of toddlers? For a fundraiser with the high-school pep squad? The “fashion show” aspect could turn into into a contest/ demo for a club, such as a “decorate your mantel” or “decoupage a picture frame” demo/ contest for homeowners?
What clients do you have who’d be delighted to have you suggest… and help sponsor… doing something like this,
Inspired to respond? React? Rebut? Just feeling chatty? Go ahead, use that nice keyboard in front of you...
