Holiday Emails Do’s & Don’ts

October 26, 2015 by Auntie Kate of Too Good to be Threw

Holiday email tips at AuntieKate.wordpress.comWho knows better how to use email than the very companies that sell email services? Here’s a quick idea of what your consignment or resale shop can learn from these companies about getting customers into your shop in November and December:

First, the things you and your staff can do:

Build your mailing list: “Your employees can deliver an unforgettable experience for your customers, but it’s up to you to train your staff to extend that interaction even further by collecting contact information.” More from Constant Contact.

Do plan your campaign: “Decide how and where you’d like to promote your products, services and sales: website, email, social media, postcards, etc.” More from Vertical Response.

Remember that your customers are people. “It’s the time of year when everyone starts to feel more like a wallet and less like a human. Or, at least, that’s how any inbox full of sales pitches and last-minute deals can seem.” More from Mailchimp.

And some expert advice on things NOT to do:

Don’t forget that strangers are looking for your shop: “People look many places for information about businesses. Missing or incorrect listings lead to lost opportunities. Maximize your visibility for the holidays by listing your business” More from Vertical Response, and the #1 place people look for resale shops.

Don’t grab every pretty holiday graphic you see: “Don’t get caught up trying to fill your email with holiday cheer. No matter what the season, your emails need to look like they’re coming from you.” More from Constant Contact.

Don’t forget: pictures motivate better than text: “Fill your messages with eye-catching, compelling imagery that will provoke action – in this case, purchases” More from My Emma.
