Yup, you as owner, co-owner, manager of a consignment, resale or thrift shop NEED a portrait. People want to see your lovely face! Use your portrait on your web site, in your blog, periodically on your social media, as a cover photo on Facebook…
Remember, people like to deal with people they know, and seeing your picture makes them feel like they know you already.
But not all of us enjoy photographs of ourselves. Here’s some examples I’ve gathered, though, that might intrigue and inspire you. Some of these folks I know, some I only feel like I know ’cause I saw them online.
Thanks to, among others, Janet, Deb, Ellen, Chris, Sarah. (If you’re here and would rather not be, let me know and I’ll take your photo done with apologies.)
Show your merchandise.
Give a little foretaste of your goods while showing yourself at work.
Show your personality!
Hey, you worked hard for that image: celebrate it!
Instill some action.
Vary the camera angle or height and make your portrait come alive!
Hide your non-assets.
We all wish, sometimes, there was a tree or a rack to hide behind.
(The cheeks are the last to go. Keep an eye out for a portrait of me
inspired by the Trash Talk Diva , shown here.)
Be sure to subscribe to this blog. We’ll have how to take a portrait of your staff and of your shop coming up soon!
So I had to take your advice.
