This issue is not going away

June 10, 2017 by Auntie Kate of Too Good to be Threw

Trust is vital to establish, and easily lost… even when it’s not your fault.

Consignment chain makes a big black eye on the entire industry.

The blow-back from the closing of a chain of 40 consignment shops, 2nd Time Around and their not paying consignors for items sold nor allowing reclaiming of consignors’ goods,

could be taking dollars out of YOUR pocket.

Yes, even if you are totally honest, even if you’re not consignment but are selling resale goods. Trust has been broken, and your suppliers and shoppers have become aware that perhaps, resale might not be a trustworthy industry to patronize.

You must be proactive in addressing this issue, but it’s not as easy as blurting out You can trust US  when someone asks if their goods and proceeds are safe with you. There’s subtleties here that are crucial to utilize to protect the work and pride you have put into your shop.

In our latest edition of our e-newsletter, USED ain’t seen nothin’ yet, we offered some suggestions for this issue. They apply equally whether you’re a consignment, buy-outright, or donations-only. Your clientele, both suppliers and shoppers, must have trust in you.
