What Do Your Customers Need to be Buying Now?

July 24, 2017 by Auntie Kate of Too Good to be Threw

The Ohio State Fair is starting this week. So, if your shop is within the geographical circle that’s likely to be planning to go, the main thought in your customers’ minds might be

What am I gonna wear?

Your consignment customers will be needing the perfect outfit for the fair!

and of course

I need it NOW!

Using the unspoken immediate needs or wants of potential shoppers means staying aware of what’s going on in their minds… what’s trending, in social media parlance. This might be a special event like the state fair or a recurring need such as Back to School (clothing, dorm room accessories) or Thanksgiving entertaining (table linens, guest-room comforts).

Sometimes these trends will be so universal as to bring you new shoppers who normally don’t think of you (Hallowe’en!) and sometimes you can target aspirational clientele by calling attention to high-society happenings (the charity ball needs the perfect evening wear) that they might never dream they can get at your prices.

Your swing shop, your window displays, your social media and advertising… heck, even your after-hours phone message… should be all set to make sure your customers know they can get what they need now.

Resale's BEST Promotions from TGtbT.comKeep a calendar of local events handy so you can market to what’s on your audience’s mind. Don’t miss the chance to leverage your B&M business as the local immediate-gratification go-to… that’s a benefit you have over online shopping venues.
