Any ideas for display windows with small panes? Sooo hard to create colorful window displays with the checkerboard across both of my front windows. I am also on the inside elbow of an L-shaped plaza. I have to work extra extra hard to be seen in the corner for 6 years. To make it worse, my new neighbor is a womens clothing shop that has SEVEN display windows using jumbo colorful Chinese lanterns for her pop of color, seasonal window displays.

I think it’s great that your new neighbor is calling attention in your direction! How about playing up her colorful pop in your windows? Fill some (not all!) of your panes with similar color paper, each one with a big bold block letter spelling out your name, the word RESALE, or, if you have enough panes, maybe a crossword-like grid using the names of what you carry? Maybe even silhouette illustrations of your categories?
If that blocks too much light, use transparent or translucent paper… which brings up this idea, privacy window film, maybe as a bottom row? to make folks notice your shop:
Which leads me into think of paint to create a bottom border, a frame on the sides, maybe just a top corner decor of flowering vines? (More on painting your windows here and here.)
I’d love to see an inside-outside look to your panes, maybe accenting panes filled with seasonal fashion photos from slick magazines, with opulent, extravagant fabric bows? The bows would have to be attached with Velcro™ and put up/ taken down every day, but they’d be the talk of the town!
Is it possible to paint the mullions black? That might help fade them into the background like this:
Hope this has given our reader, and maybe some of our OTHER readers, some creative suggestions!
And I feel your pain about the inside corner of an L-shaped plaza! I hope you’re doing all you can with that issue. Quoting myself:
Add motion with windsocks, decorative flags or bunting, even pennant flags, depending on what suits your image. Twinkle lights give vitality to your store front as well. Encourage people to linger outside your shop, as living lures for more shoppers, with a park bench or bistro table set. —read the full post

I as well have a less desirable location and have found when I use humor on my signage in comparison to sales tactics people find me more relatable and go out of their way to come into my store. I have an in town following that specifically started and thrives on my funny/silly sayings on my sign. IDK if that’s an option for you but I personally love that resale has no rules when it comes to advertising! Best of luck to you and don’t be mad at your new neighbor, she’s more expensive than you and if you look at that as a
perk you will just be building a new clientele without paying for it!
