Kudos: An NFP resale shop tag line

March 12, 2019 by Auntie Kate of Too Good to be Threw

Every business needs a clever, quick tag line… and every resale business could use one that covers both aspects of the shop!

Kudos to St. Vincent de Paul USA for this one!

What’s a tagline you ask? It’s a slogan or catchphrase that sums up the business at a glance, and I think you’ll agree that this one,

“Whether shopping or donating, you are GIVING”

does just that!

Why does this tag line deserve a TGtbT Kudos? Because it not only tells the reader that the business needs both actions to do their good work, it also, oh-so-subtly, address the age-old mistaken impression that purchases made at a charitable thrift store by people who can afford to buy at a “real” store are somehow depriving the underprivileged. (More on THAT topic in this past blog post.)

St. Vincent de Paul has a great resale catch phrase!

Pardon the weird picture… this is an empty bag so you’re seeing St. Vinnie’s tag line and their logo at the same time.

What clever tag lines come to your mind? Finger-lickin’ good? Just Do It? Because I’m worth it? When you care enough to send the best?

Tag line for Midland Care Findables Resale Store: You never know what you’ll find at Findables.

We repeat it often in our social medial.

I did not realize how truly effective it was until just recently when local news featured Findables and interviewed a customer who follows us regularly on Facebook and shops monthly. When the episode aired, there she was…saying she loved shopping with us because the store was so clean and pretty, and “you never know you’ll find at Findables!”
