What Should My Resale Shop Post on Social Media?

April 5, 2019 by Auntie Kate of Too Good to be Threw

When someone walks into your shop, how do you connect with them? It’s not all about #lookatthis and #youcanbuythis and #youmustbuythat, is it? Nope, it’s a conversation…. something social.

So let’s think about getting social electronically. For every #youcanbuythis post, do four social posts. Here’s nine categories of posts you could utilize if you’re afraid you have nothing to say except #youmustbuythat.

Which you totally do. Have lots to say. In fact, I’m guessing once you put your mind to it, there’ll be no shutting you up!

SO many things you could post besides BUY ME BUY ME

For more on making your shop BE all you dream it can be, click!

  1. Thank them. Or thank a neighboring business or your family or the weather or the designated deity. Or the wonderful customer who brought you a mocha latte.
  2. Post a fun and inspirational message. Facebook is full of them. Or make your own (branding it of course.)
  3. Dogs, cats, babies, weird animals. Always a hit with your audience, always fun to share.
  4. Something topical, whether it’s bad weather, an upcoming concert, a TV show.
  5. Reasons to shop resale. (If you’re a member of our private Facebook group called Seasoned Shopkeepers Salon, those Friday Freebies are there for you!)
  6. Tongue-in-chic messages about saving money, spending less, getting more than you have to pay for.
  7. Jokes about non-controversial topics. (Even if they don’t drink coffee, it’s a safe topic. As is being tired, loving family, etc etc.)
  8. Ditto. If it’s self-deprecating, make sure it’s mild. If you can’t decide? It’s too strong.
  9. Inspirational messages designed by others. (As you run across those you like, save them for future use.)

Here’s a slew of ideas.
