Don’t do this, resalers. (Well, anyone really but especially consignment shopkeepers being interviewed.) »

Come here often?

September 5, 2009 by Auntie Kate of Too Good to be Threw

0909sometimeknight_and_damsel_Opening lines. They are eternal. We’ve all heard them, we’ve all said them (at some stage in our lives, now, yes you did.)

Why do these lines live on forever?

Because they WORK. You only have a tiny sliver of an opening to get someone’s attention so you need to use what’s sometimes called a pick-up line.

And rightfully so. You want to pick up the listener’s/ reader’s/ viewer’s interest in what you will say next. That’s what a blog title, an ad headline, a brochure cover or handout headline, a broadcast email’s subject line…even the subject line in a discussion group…should do. Get them interested in what more you have to say.

So if you want to do a little match-making between your consignment or resale shop and a potential shopper or supplier… develop your opening lines.
