Think about it. If your shop is consignment, what do you have in stock that’s at its final markdown? That’s OD? Enough to have a winter, end-of-season clearance?
Chances are, you do.
Now think of when your potential clientele is in the mood for shopping? December 15…or January 15? When are they bombarded with sale ads and commercials? When are they in the mood to shop? When do they have the money to shop? The reason to shop?
I think maybe, some resale and consignment shops might make a whole lot of people happy…and a whole lot of profit…by starting their seasonal clearance sales NOW.
If the choice is between 60% off today, or 75% off in a month…which will your customers prefer? Which will get them in, get the dollars in the till, and clear out your shop so that you can offer the new season’s good faster?
Who’s gonna be in the mood to shop mid-January?
A lot fewer than are in the mood today. Guaranteed.
And then there’s the needed email subject line.
And how much is your floor space worth, anyway?
