If you’re approaching, in your shop, your slow season, maybe it’s time to do a project or two. Here’s some I’ve been saving for you. Got any ideas to share?
Take a tattered or outdated mannequin and a can of high-gloss paint and you have instant sculpture and spontaneous WOM.
Mount a “floating” mannequin on a bracket on the outside of your shop. Easy to put up, take down…and she won’t blow away.
A great shop-community project: Get your little ones to lie down on a roll of paper and outline them, noting which silhouette is which favorite little customer. Then transfer the outline to a wall, and go to town painting fanciful “interpretations” of each. (The painting’s best done by you, unassisted by the models 😉 ) You could even take a digital photo of each kid to remind you, come artist-time, of hair color, clothing, and so on.
An especially talented DIYer could make these “letter boxes” with or without the lights. Best if your shop’s name’s not TOO long, or if you commonly use your shop’s initials! (Photo seen at the NY Times; no copyright violation intended; thanks for the loan)
[…] And sometimes, it takes a little imagination. […]
