Wacky Weds: What do you do….

March 3, 2010 by Auntie Kate of Too Good to be Threw

Resalers dream of deserted...maybe even nude as in NO CLOTHES to check in...beachesToday’s Wacky Wednesday Giveaway should be easy enough for everyone to answer.

Even resale, thrift and consignment shop owners and managers need to relax SOMEtime, so tell us, for community participation and a chance at our STUNNING prize:

Take a calming breath after spending all day at consigningWhat do you do to relax after an intense day at work?

Because our question this week is about what you do to relax, the Giveaway is something to make not just you, but your customers too, RELAX.  It’s a flamingo decorative flag (perfect for outside your shop, in a window display or on a wall highlighting your incoming summer goods!) just like the one seen here.

Do you relax with a nice meal out with your honey?

Read the rules for our giveaway. Your comment must be posted by midnight Eastern time Sunday March 7 and we must have at least 20 entries (so contact your resale buddies and ask them to enter too!)

Relaxing involves your kids maybe?

Read previous Wacky Wednesday entries and GREAT responses from consignment, thrift, and resale shopkeepers.

Cooling it after a hard day at the thrift shopSo, tell us: what do YOU do to shake off the cares of shopkeeping?

Running 4 Thrift Stores, and in the process of opening two more, AND running a recycling warehouse, my mind is racing constantly. I get up at 5:30am and take my little doggie to the beautiful South Haven beach and pick rocks. I love to find interesting rocks and often can be seen hauling one home for my flower garden. The sounds, smells, and sights are so soothing!!!!

Reading takes the “edge” off. Currently I am hooked on Rosanne Bittner’s historical western romances. Reading helps me relax before bed and if I’m extremely tired, I will only get a few pages read before I’m nodding off!

well, usually I get home just in time for the flurry of the bedtime routines for my little ones. Once they are safely into dreamland, I like to get changed into my “comfy” clothes and hang out with my hubby. At the end of my work week, I bring home pizza and after the kids are in bed hubby and I make chocolate chip cookies and have cookie sundae’s. Its my way of treating myself to a good week!

I go home watch tv and dive right into making hairbows, flower clips etc…all the handmade items I carry in my store until about midnight, go to bed and get up and do it all over again. Although I go home and work for another 3-4 hours…it is very relaxing to me.

I will tell the truth, it’s Facebook for me right now. Love my fish 🙂

Hopefully when it gets warmer, I will go back to walking/playing bball with my boys at night.

Now when its so cold I mostly read, watch tv or I am on my lap top. In the summoer then its walking my dogs, or gardening.

WHATEVER!!! LOL!! I know some of you didn’t tell the truth! …I know that because every night as I am “unwinding” on Facebook you are there or have been there!! 😉 Yes…I have become addicted to FB…I should be out running/ walking or attempting yoga…spring is coming soon and hopefully by then I will be bored with FB and those games! In the meantime, MJ–please send me treasures! 😉

When the weather is nice, there is nothing better than hanging out on the beach with my Sunday friends. This winter has been too darn chilly though…so I’ve had to resort to vegging out on the couch with a bowl of popcorn, a Hershey bar, and a couple of good movies.

I love going out, so I spend time planning activities to do after work. Next week 9 of my customers are coming with me to a ladies’ night out Karaoke night. We are also planning a bowling night and line dancing night. Some of my customers and I (the less adventurous ones) are going out to dinner this week.
