What do all these stores have in common…and does yours?

August 1, 2010 by Auntie Kate of Too Good to be Threw

Sunday stroll through the mall. Every store looks pretty much like the next. What do all these stores have in common? (Click each photo to see larger…)

Where am I? The back wall tells me.

Repetition is the key.

Repetition is the key.

This is the only store I actually bought anything in.

Shop name? Back and center!

Off to the side, but still where customers will see it.

Above the sales desk area.

So good, they named it twice.

Can you say ALDO?

Which of these common-as-dirt mall jewelry stores am I in?

Adding the store name inside, at customer level, reinforces their name recognition. Do you have YOUR store name at the sales counter? Some ideas:

Using one's name stylishly.

You could even include your icon.

Doesn't this wall just cry out for a name?

Until you get your name installed (and even after: you can't reinforce your business name too much!), here's an alternative.

Search for wall words on the Internet, call a local sign-painting company, have the name of the font your log is in handy, and you may be pleasantly surprised at how affordable it is to get your name on your wall(s)!

[…] Hey, you pay for the walls, might as well use them. […]

This has been planned since we opened as we have a dropdown wall from the ceiling in the middle of the store – 4 month opened and yet no name inside . grrr. Plus I hate when people ask me what’s the name of my store when they get to the cash register . ( I rather them to ask though than not asking and not knowing)

You are absolutely right…you know when you are in trouble when they are writing out the check to pay you and they don’t know the name of the store….killer…thanks for the tips…keep them coming…
