Hire right… fire less.

August 2, 2011 by Auntie Kate of Too Good to be Threw

The absolutely top, hands-down winner of the most detested job of any boss is firing people.

Even when the person being fired has been a drag on the business, has degraded the vision you’ve had… even if that person was stealing (not only her/his paycheck, but actual stuff)…

No one looks forward to firing staff members.

In fact, we hate it.

That’s why, as Patti Acquisto’s presentation at Conference stressed,

you have to hire right to be able to fire less.

And after you hire right… you have to make them right. You have to train them to succeed in their jobs. To do less is to do them, you, and your business, a disservice. In fact, I’d say

training right is more than hiring right.
