I offer free giftwrapping in my store. We’re getting more and more customers ask if we sell cards–kid’s birthday, baby shower, etc. to go along with the wrapping, and we do not have any at this time. Does anyone have a reasonably priced source for cards? Thanks in advance.
I’m sure that some of our shopkeepers have some wholesale resources to share with Kerri, but here’s a nifty resource I just recently learned about:
Shop Local with Etsy.
Yes, you can choose to see, on etsy.com, your local artisans (for example, those 6,691 items located in Boulder CO where Kerri’s Childish Things is located) and then you can further sort the results down to Paper Goods.
Here’s the 319 sources Kerri might find useful. Hope there’s a card-maker there that wants a local bricks-&-mortar outlet, and that Kerri and the crafter can strike a wholesale deal. If so,
everyone wins: Kerri, the crafter, and the shoppers who adore buying local, unique items!
What a great way for shopkeepers to show their townsfolk that “Shopping Local” is easy, available, and directly supported by local shopkeepers too!

I have several local women who are scrapbookers/stampers make cards. They love doing it, and their cards are unique. I sell them for $4 and folks seem happy to pay that to get something that is different.

I sell a ton of cards. I usually get from boutiques and/or card shops going out of business. One retiring boutique owner gave me the name of her greeting card rep who had scads of samples…I bought about 1000 cards for $100. I sell all my cards for $1,50 / $2.50 / $3.50. I also give them free with purchase of gift cards.
