Why would a shopkeeper care about a consumer blog?

July 10, 2013 by Auntie Kate of Too Good to be Threw

The How To Consign blog is a free money-maker for your consignment, resale or thrift shopThere’s a resale, thrift, consignment blog out there that you might wish to follow, even though I am sure you know 99% of the things on the blog.

Why? Because your customers crave information.

Consumers crave information. That’s why HowToConsign.com is the #1 site in the world for motivating and exciting consumers to explore the resale industry as shoppers and suppliers!

And the blog, at HowToConsign.org, provides them with just-in-time reasons to shop in your store. Your customers might enjoy reading about the best way to shop resale, how resale items are cleaner than “new”, or perhaps 6 Reasons why resale is good for you, your wallet, and your world.

They might even enjoy things like Halloween coloring pages, the 10 Things You Should Always Buy Used, and other customer-centric information designed especially to motivate secondhand shopping, everywhere from the most basic thrift shop to the ritziest consignment shop. Take a look at the HowToConsign blog Table of Contents, and see if there aren’t a few articles there that YOU can provide your fans, friends and followers with, so that they can visit HTC and become impressed with your helpfulness.

The Proper Way to Share Information on the Internet: People love when their creations are shared, but they want and deserve to receive full credit and web traffic for such intellectual property. So if you run across something you’d like to share via your web site, blog, or any form of social media, here’s how to do it: Write a few words about why your viewers would enjoy something, then provide a link to the source. For example, “Did you know resale clothes are cleaner than new? Here’s why:” and then provide the link. Simple, huh? You’re sharing this way. Any other use, even if you provide a source link when you copy & paste someone’s else’s writing, artwork, or graphic, is improper usage unless you have specially received permission. Simple: Use only a quick explanation why your viewers might wish to click through to something, then give the address to click through to.

So one day, when you’re coming up dry on useful and interesting resale-specific news or info for your friends, followers, fans, check what the HTC blog has to offer.

You could have a sales-boosting, image-polishing, professional entry for your customers, in your town, for free.

Who knows? The entries on the blog might even inspire your unique twist and turn into a promotional event, a subject line for your next broadcast email, or even a window display. And for free. No strings attached (well, except for proper Interest sharing, as discussed above.)

And because the HTC blog can make your job easier, more fun… and more profitable.

* Address the seasonal interests of shoppers: Have your working women shoppers got the mid-summer blues? Show them this entry. Are they considering what to buy (and how to use it!) at your big sale? This post leads them to a treasure-trove of resale ideas.

* To get your shop name out there! Adding something useful to the blog, via a helpful comment, is an excellent way to get your shop name, location, and more on the web, which increases your search engine visibility. (Please note: HTC Sponsors are welcome to use their URLs in their messages; if your shop has not yet taken the opportunity to become a part of our Resale Shop Directory & Zoomable Map, please do so before using us as a marketing tool.

* Another link for Sponsor Shops! If you maintain an active business blog and are a Treasured Sponsor at HowToConsign.com, your blog can also be listed on HowToConsign.org. Just ask!
