Using a mobile app to consign

June 19, 2014 by Auntie Kate of Too Good to be Threw

eBay Valet… “sell for me” is their motto. TGtbT.com wants to know what consignment shops think about eBay Valet

Use your mobile device to consign. Here’s the consumer commercial.

Your items are on eBay for two weeks. If they don’t sell, they’re “recycled” (eBay’s terminology) or you can pay $10 per item to get them shipped back to you. Here’s the web page about it and the FAQs.

Read a third-party opinion about it. And another.

So, what do YOU think? How will this affect your consignment or resale or thrift shop, whether you are B&M or on-line? Planning on proactive action?

My consigners really like the option of getting their items back. Most of the time at the end of the consignment period, they tell me to keep the items, they don’t want them back–but they want it to be their decision. I’m not sure how this would play.
