If you sell online… or even if you just use merchandise photos online to induce shoppers to visit your bricks-&-mortar consignment sop or thrift store, surely you’ve envied those neat photos you see on “real store” sites and in catalogs. The ones that look they’re using a ghost for a model.
How are these shots achieved, and can you afford the money and time to do them, when you only have one-of-a-kind items to sell?
The answer, of course, is yes. (After all, if the answer were no, I’d have nothing to blog about.)
One of our favorite store-supply houses (even if they do sell only one thing, mannequins) is Mannequin Madness. And here’s something new they’re offering:
Ghost Mannequins
The first thing you notice, when you go to their blog, is that these mannequins are not ghost-like. That is, they’re not transparent or translucent. The key is that they lose parts at your whim.
The second thing you notice is that the male comes in only one style. Typical. 🙂
They’re pricey, even as discounted prices. But if you figure CPW (Cost per Wearing, or in this case, Cost Per Wowing), you can see that they’d quickly earn their keep in advertising motivation.
How to use them to the max? Well, Youtube to the rescue! Check out the other videos that come up over there, too.
Then get a ghost, use it, and share the dickens out of it, starting here, in the comments! (Tip: Choking at the price, but still want to make the clothes you’re snapping look better? Use a simple clear torso hanger. These run from $6 to $12.)
