Got low-value goods? »

Soon it’ll be Christmas

September 23, 2016 by Auntie Kate of Too Good to be Threw

Not that we wish to rush the season, of course, but

as shopkeepers, we need to get folks thinking about bringing in time-limited goods earlier rather than later. (Don’t you HATE it when someone brings in the perfect Christmas decor… on December 19?)

So it’s time to motivate these folks with a little holiday corner in your shop. How much space should you devote to this preview? Depends on whether you saved pakaways from last year, badgered friends to go through their decorations early, or shopped garage sales all summer.

Yes, your shop can THRIVE at holiday time. Read how here.

This thrift shop, World’s Attic, an MCC thrift in Sarasota, started showcasing their selection early and did a great job of making just a few items look festive and fun.

And I also took this photo to share with you an easy way to display fake wreaths. Don’t you love how they’re hanging on a rod, just like jeans would? They don’t take up wall or shelf space, and they provide a nice backdrop for the temporary table display.

When are most shops putting out Christmas? Is Ocyober too early? Would like to hear from other shop owners?
