Got any plans?

January 15, 2017 by Auntie Kate of Too Good to be Threw

Take a moment and think about what’s coming up in February. And how your shop could use these wacky “national days” to tickle the fancy of your current… and potential!… clientele. Here’s some I’ve chosen at random, and a thought or two on each to get your imagination going to

design a promotional event for your shop!

Feb 1 Wednesday Work Naked Day: Your email, blog post, social media message could be: If you’re not allowed to work naked, the next best thing is to work in savvy, stylish, and fashionable outfits that fit your budget as well as they fit your body. Here’s a few we’ve chosen for you from OurShop….

Use a mushromm stuffed armchair as the focus of a colorful display in ypur consignment or resale shop

Feb 4 Saturday Stuffed Mushroom Day: If your shop is lucky enough to have an upholstered furniture piece in some shade close to mushroom, you have it made! Offer a special price on it, have a drawing to win it free, or simply use it as the photographic centerpiece of a “What goes with mushroom?” blog entry. (Tip: Paprika? Spinach? What a yummy decorating idea!)

Feb 12 Sunday Lost Penny Day Feb 27: Get some fun ideas here. See how many pennies you can gather today for a local charity? Have a penny sale for those last dregs of winter?

Some more days that might strike your fancy:

Feb 15 Wednesday Gumdrop Day

Feb 17 Friday Random Act of Kindness Day

Feb 20 Monday Clean Out Your Bookcase Day (Collect books from your clientele to sell and donate the proceeds to your local library? To donate directly to after-school programs or senior centers? To motivate empty bookcases to be consigned?)

Feb 27 Monday No Brainer Day

Turn the color scheme of a romance novel into an enticing vignette of your consignment goodsOh, and the entire month of February is Creative Romance Month

Create 28 romantic outfits ahead of time…. watermark with your shop info… post day by day on your blog or Facebook page? Or take shots of the covers of 28 romance novels, match the colors up to a home decor vignette in your shop?

PS Where’d I get these sample days? From the links on this blog entry. Find the ones that you like best, then have a ball!
