WHAT? Nothing’s happening at your shop?

September 5, 2017 by Auntie Kate of Too Good to be Threw

Is your consignment web site doing its job?I just visited several dozen consignment, resale, and thrift store web sites. You know what I found?

A big ZERO.

For those shops who had an “Events” or “Calendar” page, almost every one was

BLANK.

So right this minute, I want you all to go check your site. Is yours blank? Then

here’s my gift to you:

messages you can cut and paste into your web site’s Events, so you don’t disappoint folks who’d love to come visit.

EVENTS message #1

Every day is an event here! Stop in today to find something you didn’t even know you needed. We’re open [hours] and are located [locator line].

EVENT message #2

Sometimes we have parties, sometimes we have sales. We like to think that every day is a good day to come see us, but if you want to be sure to never ever miss one of our happenings (often there’s free food involved), be sure to sign up on our mailing list [insert link here] and follow us on [insert your social media addresses here.]

Free Smile sign from HowToConsign.comAnd if your site uses a calendar template that you have a hard time keeping full? Try naming each day of the week just for giggles. Let’s see: Smile Sunday, Marvelous Monday…

You could also spend an evening filling that calendar template with wacky holidays (here’s a list of sources for that) or better yet? Get rid of that template. It’s hopelessly last year.

Then, on your Events page, you can simply use this graphic (leaving it complete so you are crediting the creator of the graphic, of course.)
