Is your shop worth the trip?

April 24, 2018 by Auntie Kate of Too Good to be Threw

Attention span of a goldfish

Think about our attention span now, 5 years in!

You know what they say about people, now that they spend so much time on the internet:

they have the attention span of a goldfish.

People are easily bored. Even when they want something, they only want it if it’s readily available and completely obvious.

So what to do, when you have a B&M store and you want to entice your customers to become regular visitors and buyers?

You have to make all the effort they have to take to get to your place,

super-duper worth it.

We, as consignment, resale and thrift shopkeepers, love to brag that our shops are

“A new store every day!”

But really, are we? No. The blouses are always over there, the glassware here… and the only seasonal change we make is to use the coat H-racks for shorts.

We don’t want folks to say they’ve been here, done that. We want them to really feel like they’re missing something if they don’t stop in every week.

Here’s a few simple & quick ways to change your shop around that we’ve talked about here on this blog:

  • Grab yourself some (tropical or not) isles.
  • They won’t know what’s different but you will.
  • Feed their hunger for of-the-minute with your swing shop.
  • You don’t need to re-arrange the entire store.

(And don’t forget: use social media to show them what they’re missing as you make those changes!)
