Kudos: Furnishings Fotos

July 16, 2018 by Auntie Kate of Too Good to be Threw

Our Kudos today go to Panache Home, one of 3 local businesses in Rochester NY owned by Joan Lincoln (read more.)

It’s so easy to snap a quick shot for your social media of a piece on your sales floor. Like

 this one?

Boring photo of home decor item from a consignment shop.

But it’s so much more tempting to do a quick collage of goods that fulfill a need… or a dream? This collage is hashtagged #lakehouse #cottage #summer and doesn’t it make you long to be in your lake cottage… if you only had one?

Furnishings for your lake cottage

No time to do a collage? Then do an arrangement!

Home furnishings the consignment way

Now yes, these photos take some styling time (and talent!) and that first one, well, it’s quick is all I can say.

But the last two? They can be used not only to show current merchandise, but to illustrate the ambiance of the shop, what one could possibly find there, over and over again in social media, your website, printed brochures, press releases, business cards, banners for an exhibition booth. Emphasizing the feel of your shop, your branding, is worth the extra half-hour it took to create these, I think!

This post is the first in a week-long series of Kudos, ideas to inspire gathered from consignment, resale, & thrift shops that you might adapt or alter for YOUR business! Kudos Week is offered by TGTbT.com, the Premier Site for Professional Resalers, in celebration of International Resale Day, July 18. See more Kudos posts here.

Well, a picture is worth 1000 words, so they say! This just proves that! Thanks for posting this Kate, it gives me exactly the shove I needed to do much more about “staging” my pics and doing collages. Next week’s photos will be much better.

Posting photos on facebook and the website always generates traffic to the store. We try to post at least 10 pictures weekly of new items coming in. We pay to boost the posts when we are really full and it brings customers from far and wide. check us out Showcaseconsignments.com and on facebook.

I enjoy your blog, it always inspires us to keep changing things up.

What a difference it makes to take a little extra time! Oh. And a bit of creative thought. Great photos!
