Hodge Podge? Nope, Prizes!

August 6, 2018 by Auntie Kate of Too Good to be Threw

You know how you sometimes get whole collections of things in, and you’re at a loss as to how to group lots of little things, how to price, even how to tag? Like this collection, maybe?

Whol lotta angels? Whole lotta premium with purchase!

Photo borrowed from StillGoode Consignments. Click the pic to find out more!

You can turn the headache into a unique promotion, if that collection is of something most people would like…

I’d be tempted to buy-outright this whole grouping, even if I was a consignment shop, and use the variety of little angels as a promotion. Maybe…

  • If you’re collecting cash donations for a charitable cause, “the first 50 donors to our Help Chris Walk! fund, because they are angels, can choose their own personal angel to take home!“
  • Use the angels as lagniappe… a little something you give at your discretion to your favorite. nicest, most free-spending customers. Or gift them to children (with parent’s prior consent of course). Or send them to a local care facility to distribute to residents as good will. “Thanks for being an Earth Angel.“
  • If it’s holiday gift-giving time, offer their choice of holiday angel as a sales bonus “free with any $X purchase“… making that X amount about 50% more than your shop’s average sale to encourage larger totals.

Maybe you’ve received lots of wild animal statuettes (create a Safari of Savings event!) or sea shells (save them for resort season: You can Hear the Ocean from [Ourtown]!) or cats (Let the Cat out of the Bag: Share this Facebook post and come claim your little china cat!)

NFP donation-only shops: Really easy to do this if your volunteers stash away those little 50-cent items in boxes by category until you need a business- or morale-boosting event.

So next time a whole slew of little stuff comes in, don’t fret and fuss and spend 10 hours dealing with them: grab the chance to do something fun!

Wow! Great idea, make me wish I still had a brick and mortar. I will have to think of a way to do this online!
