There are web sites that tell you what a simple thing opening a consignment or resale shop is.
Well, I won’t.
Heck, there’s even one web site that tells the gullible that they need “no retail experience, no fashion knowledge” to open a consignment shop. They do all this just to get more viewers to buy something.
Other “resources” regurgitate tired, useless information, or make statements which are simply wrong hoping you’ll think they’re the experts, when they are actually just trying to get your money.
I won’t.
I refuse to tell you that opening a consignment shop, starting a resale shop, having a non-profit thrift store is easy.
Because it isn’t.
And because you can invest a lot of time, money, effort, and pride into a shop,
just to fail.
And you don’t want to do that. And even more,
I don’t want you to do that.
Why not? Because your energy is better spent learning how to operate a resale or consignment shop the right way: right for you, your suppliers, and your customers. And I want you not only to thrive, but to be proud to tell anyone “I sell used merchandise.” Resale is a legitimate and valid part of the consumer economy.
So when it’s a choice between believing what some seller says ( Hey,it’s so easy, all you have to do is SEND ME MONEY) and what Too Good to be Threw at TGtbT.com offers, who ya gonna believe has better help? Whose hands would you put your professional future in?
