Consignment, resale, and thrift shops are addicted to using Facebook to keep their names in the forefront of their loyal customers’ shopping minds. But not all of them do it well. For example, albums. They can be a virtual catalog, a on-screen showroom, and a big part of your business branding. The right photos, with the right captions, add so much perceived value to your merchandise! Here’s a shop which has done it well:
Too much work, you say? Well, there are time pressures sometimes involved. But this next example takes ZERO time, and I love the look.
Ready to work on your Facebook albums (or better yet, on your blog posts which get posted on Facebook?)? Here’s some help:
- Editing Photos & Organizing Albums, from Facebook
- Spring into Spring with a Facebook album, from Auntie Kate
- And more from Auntie Kate (who knew she felt so strongly about using your social media time wisely?)
- Have some FB album photos you just LOVE? Turn them into a book to put next to your husband chair to further brand your shop.
Anyone who posts pictures to Facebook knows that to do it “right” takes time and effort. Afterall, these images are the impression customers get of your store! Posting once or twice daily allows you to maximize your effort. One photo draws a customer to that item and attracts them to your page, where they can feel free to browse the rest of your page’s albums. Think of it as a steady stream rather than a faucet that’s off or on.

Great idea. I’m using it! We are getting out of the clothing business but I can do a home decor and furniture collage/album. Check picstitch to put multiple pictures together in one for facebook.

Thanks Staci. For those without iPhones and apps, or whatever picstitch is designed for, I suggest http://picmonkey.com or http://ribbet.com, both new companies that filled the gap left when Google bought and killed the beloved picnik.com cloud program for photo manipulation. (BTW: I still use, every day, your “Nifty” calendar for 2012 you sent me. Your logo and shop colors make me smile every time! Thanks again)

The albums are beautiful.. But it does not look like very many people are seeing them…

Thanks Shannon, you have hit a retail/business truth RIGHT ON THE HEAD. It’s not enough to DO something wonderful: you have to MARKET it. Considering that at the MOST, 6% of a shop’s FB fans will see a given post, and that ZERO % of strangers will… creating a FB album is only the groundwork.
SO many shopkeepers love to fiddle with social media but simply don’t take the time to market, that even their most brilliant ideas never gather the attention, and create the results, they should…
Thanks for bringing this home to us!

I agree Shannon. I noticed that they don’t do much posting. I am certainly not perfect when it comes to keeping up with Facebook but it is such a great marketing tool for us! We instantly have phone calls and visits when we post new pictures or information. I love it.
