What’s a Swing Shop and why would I need one?

July 6, 2017 by Auntie Kate of Too Good to be Threw

3 reasons YOU need a swing shop:

1- You can focus attention on specific categories or styles to keep them moving

2- A swing shop keeps

your merchandise looking fresh and exciting, whether there’s a lot of incoming items or not

3- These featured items build your reputation as a fashion-forward shop and increase turnover

For maximum exposure, your swing shop should be in the front half of your store, easily entered from your door. It’s best to put your swing shop in the center of your store, like an island, so that it’s visible and enticing in all directions.

(Excerpt from Topic #7, Swing Shops, in Shop Sizzle: Go from DRAB to FAB Product for the Professional Resaler.)

So what exactly IS a swing shop? It’s probably easier to show you:

A swing shop can be as simple as a table-top display.

Notice how there’s 3 levels here (four if you count the bust forms) and how the tables are glass, making the displayed items more prominent than the fixtures they are on.

And here’s a swing WALL.

Might be difficult to find the wall space for this, but on the other hand, it’s the perfect photo opp for your social media shots! (Especially if your shop name and URL are embloazoned on the wall!) Photo courtesy of Store Supply Warehouse.
