Cabin fever is real…
and requires immediate attention!
Your shoppers and suppliers are as sick of the weather as you and your bank account are. They want to think that better times are ahead… or at least better weather.
Here’s how to get them in and shopping:
If you sell home goods, chances are you always need to sell more wall decor. How about an email with the subject line “Walls Pressing In On You? Change your Viewpoint!“… and a lot of photos of items that might be worth going out in the snow for.
Another idea: “Snuggle Up with MyShop” with warm cuddly goods, from chenille pillows and lap robes to blanket scarves and fuzzy-lined boots. (If you’re a thrift with an overabundance of odd mugs? Tuck an envelope of cocoa mix in each, tie a business card on the handle, and promote “a warm gift with every purchase!“)
The weather’s so bad, it’s a whiteout? Send an email or do a social media photo with “MyShop’s Having a Blackout!” showing a selection of black, or black-and-white, goodies that’ll warm the cockles of their hearts.
“The Perfect Cure for those Dreary Winter Days…” They open your email, and there’s wonderful cruise, resort, spring goodies to lust after.. you could even go crazy with those silly stickers and add smiling suns and palm trees.
And if you’re having a hard time getting those spring items in
so you can display, promote and sell them? (Don’t forget those pakaways you saved last August… and create a Valentine’s Day swing shop too!)
Suggest that a “sure cure for the snow blues is to pull out your bright spring items and plan what you’ll be wearing ASAP… then bring in the items you’d like to pass on to someone else.” Be sure to provide a link in your social media to your shop’s “how to consign” or “what we buy” or “donate to help” web page.
Just used this idea on my shop page. Thanks Kate!
