Believe it or not, there are some independent, talented resale shopkeepers who simply cannot bring themselves to brag on their businesses. (Drives me gaga, but it’s a fact of life.) I’ve tried to encourage these reticent entrepreneurs. Even given them reasons to put themselves forth. Yet still there’s some puritanical streak in them that’s
holding them back from spectacular success.
If you’re a Shrinking Violet, here’s a technique that’s similar to the thank-you ad I show in the Manual.
It’s simply a Letter to the Editor. If you live anywhere with a local newspaper, believe it or not, people read these letters. On paper or online. And all you need is a fresh supplier or two to make the effort of writing such a letter worthwhile. Here’s one I found to show you:
