Turning a deficit into a positiveYou know the phrase,

handyman’s delight.

It’s the way real estate people market a house with, let’s say, some strikes against it.

I was reminded of that phrase when (more…)

There are web sites that tell you what a simple thing opening a consignment or resale shop is.

Well, I won’t.

Build your resale shop with the help of Too Good to be Threw

Heck, there’s even one web site that tells the gullible that they need “no retail experience, no fashion knowledge” to open a consignment shop. They do all this just to get more viewers to buy something.

Other “resources” regurgitate tired, useless information, or make statements which are simply wrong hoping you’ll think they’re the experts, when they are actually just trying to get your money.

I won’t.

I refuse to tell you that opening a consignment shop, starting a resale shop, having a non-profit thrift store is easy.

Auntie Kate offers help

Because it isn’t.

And because you can invest a lot of time, money, effort, and pride into a shop,

just to fail.

And you don’t want to do that. And even more,

I don’t want you to do that.

Why not? Because your energy is better spent learning how to operate a resale or consignment shop the right way: right for you, your suppliers, and your customers.  And I want you not only to thrive, but to be proud to tell anyone “I sell used merchandise.”  Resale is a legitimate and valid part of the consumer economy. Auntie Kate offers suggestions about what needs to be done now in your resale shop

So when it’s a choice between believing what some seller says ( Hey,it’s so easy, all you have to do is SEND ME MONEY) and what Too Good to be Threw at TGtbT.com offers, who ya gonna believe has better help? Whose hands would you put your professional future in?

Explore  over 40 Products for the Professional Resaler that Too Good to be Threw has for you.

And ask nosy questions.

It was an afternoon filled with consignment and resale, and strange I-dunno-what’s-up shops. Some were well-established, some were brand-spanking new. I took Sis ’cause she’s good at asking nosy questions and I wanted to test the old adage

It’s all in who you know.Who are your business buddies?

(And Sis wants me to add that I took her because she’s fun to shop with, too.) After all, we all need business buddies. Short of asking them to let me see who’s their Facebook friends and Twitter followers, I had to rely on Sis.

Shop #1, which has been here for donkey’s years, well-organized but limited selection. I tried real hard to buy something and couldn’t. Actually, I can’t remember the last time I did find anything to buy there. Question to owner: (more…)
