The old razzle dazzle makes resale money every time!If there’s one thing that I wish every Too Good to be Threw resaler, heck, every RETAILER, would resolve to do in the upcoming year, it’s to polish up their shop so that it razzle-dazzles their clientele.

Shopping used to be a joy. It was FUN. They made jokes about the ladies in the department stores squirting perfume. They ohhed-and-ahhed over the fantasy Toyland at Macy’s. Women looked forward to Continue Reading »

When the just-pre-Christmas and the just-post-Christmas ads started appearing, seems like all you saw, heard, were yelled at about was percentages off. Now maybe it’s just because I’ve made a life-long career out of retail, but aren’t you, too, the teeniest bit suspicious about how the stores manage this?

Don’t you start thinking: Well, sure, it was overpriced to begin with, so 50% off is prob’ly just about right, and if they think I’m falling for that, well, by golly, I’ll show them. I won’t buy ’til it’s 75% off.

Well, maybe it is just me. Maybe Continue Reading »

Kate and Kenny all decked outAs the only person in my shop without kids, parents, and others, I always worked Christmas Eve day from opening until our early closing at 4. While my staff enjoyed their family activities, I had to balance my career obligations with my social and in-law activities.

One Christmas Eve (I was much more foolish then) I decided I could manage an open house on Christmas Eve with over 45 people invited for 7 PM on. And Christmas Day dinner for the in-laws too. Well, with 3 hours between closing (and that was fun, too, since we always had champagne on Christmas Eve in the shop. I didn’t even TRY to balance the cash drawer…) and this party, no problemo. Really. It all worked out Continue Reading »

The Too Good to be Threw Mobile

May your days be polka-dot…

and may all your Christmases be dotty….

and yes, the polka dots are real. And yes, people laugh when I drive down the street. Isn’t it grand? That I can bring such happiness to them?

I’m thinking of getting a clown nose to wear while driving. And getting a whole slew of little people for friends who can pile out at stoplights and run around real fast before they pile back in. Might as well go all the way. Beep beep.

Have a holly jolly polka-dot Christmas!

Hey Spouses of Resalers across the world… I bet you haven’t come up with a Christmas present that will make your honey happier EVERY day of the year yet, have you?

And you’re running out of time. Well, here’s a gift that will save your umm, rear end, just in time!

A gel mat might save your relationship. It’s not cheap but believe me…it’s worth every penny. Your sweetie’s back and legs are KILLING her/him, every day. Imagine how much NICER your partner would be with tootsies and legs pampered by this mat behind the sales or take-in counter.

Why, she/he might even feel so tip-top when she/he gets home, she/he might cook you a lovely dinner complete with all the fixin’s. (It’s a known fact that families of resalers don’t get home-cooked meals near enough.)

And just think: this gel mat COULD save you the bill for a knee or hip replacement which  might be needed a few decades from now, from all that standing making a fortune in the shop!

(Resalers: print out this page and wrap it around the remote control this evening…then don’t be surprised if he/she says, tomorrow morning, “Uh, honey, I have an errand to run…”)
